Green Info

greener festival award

In 2007 The Greener Festival Award, a kite mark for festivals meeting green targets, was introduced. We are very proud to have received it every year since and we're working on getting it again this year. Many of our new initiatives are geared around the guidelines they have created and we're trying to make the festival as green as we possibly can.

Despite this good work, there’s always more to do, and we’re going to need your help to do it.

Rubbish and Recycling

We work closely with a company called Complete Wasters. They do an amazing job, collecting and recycling much of the festival waste and many of our green ideas spring from them. They will recycle plastic bottles, cardboard, paper and glass and they're looking at collecting compostable food waste and used vegetable oil from food traders.

The most helpful thing you can do as a festival-goer is to sort your waste. Different colour-coded bins will be provided to make it super easy. All our bars use compostable pint glasses, which Complete Wasters collect. Our food traders must use compostable cups and plates and they must also use sugar cubes - or loose sugar - to avoid hundreds of small pieces of paper floating around.

Transport

We actively encourage our festival-goers to help reduce their carbon footprint by thinking of greener ways of travel.

Please see the travel pages to find out more about getting here in a green way.

We’re constantly looking for ways to improve the sustainability of our festival. If you have any bright ideas, email us.
