Summer Sundae Twinned with Bergenfest

Norwegian Festival is our friend!

Summer Sundae Weekender has close family ties with twin festival Bergenfest! We've linked up with the Norwegian festival for a number of years and our relationship with our like-minded sibling is continuously blossoming year on year.

Based on the "twin towns" concept, it's part of the cultural exchange programme organised by the Association of Independent Festivals which partners the UK's leading independent festivals with their counterparts abroad. We'll be able to help each other out spreading the word about our events, encourage artist exchanges and co-ordinate bookings.

For links between Bergen and Leicester you need look no further than Bergen's very own Kings of Convenience who performed at Summer Sundae in 2004, with band member Erlend Øye returning with his new musical project Whitest Boy Alive in 2008. In addition, footballer Charlie Miller managed to fit in stints with both Leicester City and Brann Bergen FC during his playing career.

Rob Challice from Summer Sundae said: "Bergenfest and Summer Sundae are two city-based festivals known for showcasing new international talent amongst established names. Bergenfest's organisers, Frank Nes and co, present their event with pride and show a high level of care for both artists and audience."

Frank Nes, from Bergenfest said: "It is an honour for Bergenfest to partner up with Summer Sundae. It is my belief that we share the same core values, such as a strong emphasis on artistic quality and open mindedness towards genres. Over the years a few Norwegian acts have performed at Summer Sundae and I hope we can strenghten the ties in the years to come, including being able to open Norwegian festival-goers' eyes to Summer Sundae."

Bergenfest will run from 21st-24th June 2012. The festival is hosted at a variety of venues across the city, and this year for the first time will also present open air shows in a medieval fortress and caslte located in Bergen's historic centre.
