Bath Time by Honest Dave

Today saw the premier of Honest Dave‘s new interactive video work “Bath Time" at The Interact Gallery. The piece was produced for his MA at DeMontfort University and examines issues of public vs. private space through the use of video of two people bathing and their reflections on “bath time". The work will be on show at The Interact Gallery until 4th October.

ABC Interact Gallery

Fabrika was location ‘A' on the ABC arts event last night. Downstairs there was live music, poetry and performance and upstairs The Interact Gallery was fully on-line with a full exhibition of my new work.

There was a good turnout and everything ran smoothly. Hopefully it will be the first of many well-attended events at the gallery.

Shine at Brixworth Church

The first Shine event took place at Brixworth All Saints Church on Saturday evening. The show consisted of multimedia installations inside the church and light and video projections outside - all organised by Leicester‘s Watch This Space team. My contribution to the event was a version of my Memory Mirror installation that was used to generate video projections on the side of the building. Pictures can be found on Flickr and a short video on YouTube.

Dropsketch Developments

Dropsketch has been live for almost a month now and usage continues to grow. Sketches are being deposited in the system from all over the world as can be seen on the map here. I‘ll be revisiting the iPhone app soon and adding some new features, such as a built in map and the ability to ‘respond' to other people‘s sketches. I‘ll also be looking at ways of presenting the sketches made in interesting interactive ways. Visit The Interact Gallery for more information about the Dropsketch project.

Dinosaur Gallery Opening

Leicester Museum has just launched it‘s new dinosaur gallery. The formal opening was attended by Sir David Attenborough and gave the invited audience an opportunity to explore the impressive new exhibition.

Cuttlefish was asked to develop an iPad app to support the exhibition and this went live with the opening. The app is available on 12 iPads in the museum and gives visitors access to some great multimedia content that was produced by the museum‘s curatorial team.

The gallery (and app) are open to the general public. See these pictures to have a look at screens from the iPad app and the opening event.

Blyth Power Ashes

The final bank holiday weekend of the summer is always a good one for festivals. For the last four years I‘ve gone to Shambala but for a change this year we decided to go to the Blyth Power Ashes.

The Ashes is organised by folk-punk long-timers Blyth Power and features music from themselves and friends including Eastfield and Pog.

It made for a very different sort of weekend to Shambala. It is small festival (Shambala is small, but the Ashes is really small) with one stage and a single bar. It was still a really good event though, and only £15 a ticket.

Interact Gallery Preview

Two months after starting work on The Interact Gallery we have managed to organise a public preview of the space. The well-attended preview saw the gallery officially opened by Professor Ernest Edmonds. Some work from my Interactive Arts System exhibition was also on display. This will open in September.
