About
Interact Digital Arts Ltd is a digital arts practice focussed around the creative work of Sean Clark. We create artworks, undertake artistic commissions and collaborations, curate exhibitions and live events, and run workshops and training sessions. We are based in Leicester where we have a studio and co-manage Interact Labs, a digital art making space at Phoenix Cinema and Art Centre.
Background
Interact Digital Arts was formally launched as a limited company in 2015. However, it is based on almost 20 years of arts and technology experimentation by Leicester-based digital artist Sean Clark.
Sean began his creative career in the early 1990s, working on pioneering multimedia and Internet projects with some of the UK's leading companies as well as bands such as The Shamen, Zion Train and Higher Intelligence Agency. In the 1990s he created CD-ROMs and websites, produced live visuals as a VJ (touring the UK and Europe with Zion Train), wrote for magazines and organised live events.
In 2000 he had his first gallery exhibition and later that year launched the web design company, Cuttlefish Multimedia Ltd. In parallel with his commercial work, he also started Cuttlefish Digital Arts - an informal umbrella for his ongoing digital art work.
Throughout the 2000s Sean continued to develop his art practice, showing work at festivals, in group, collaborative and solo shows, and developing a profile as both an artist and digital arts educator. He also obtained a Masters degree in Digital Art from Camberwell College of Arts in 2008.
In the 2010s he began to curate exhibitions, and he ran his own digital art gallery space in Leicester between 2011 and 2012 called the Interact Gallery. He now typically runs two or three exhibitions per year, at various venues around the city, showing work by digital artists and from other topics he is interested in.
In 2015 Sean separated his digital art work from Cuttlefish and what was Cuttlefish Digital Arts became Interact Digital Arts Ltd. The new company takes on digital art commissions, curates exhibitions and runs workshops and educational events. Cuttlefish Multimedia Ltd continues to develop websites and apps for a wide range of commercial clients.
