Hailing from Chelmsford in Essex, but newly located to Berlin, Germany, Gold Panda is an electronica project of UK producer Derwin Schlecker. He intricately mixes subtle beats with twisted, blissed out sounds from the most obscure sample to echoed electronics. Following on from his inclusion on the BBC's Sound of 2010 poll, he released his critically acclaimed debut album Lucky Shiner the same year. The record crossed boundaries dissecting hip hop beats with pulsating flourishes of minimal techno. Last year saw the release of his DJ Kicks set, which was led by the mesmerising sparkle of the windchime laden An Iceberg Hurled Northward Through Clouds. His early 7", the fantastically choppy Quitters Raga (featuring Indian samples galore) has recently featured on the Belle and Sebastian compiled Late Night Tales Vol. 2. He has also remixed tracks by Caribou, Luke Abbott and Lemonade
