Dan Mangan

Canadian Dan Mangan started out a fresh faced folk singer but over three albums he has evolved into something far more interesting. Last year's Oh Fortune was full of personality and scope in his songs led by an impressive, inventive vocal. He takes the standard acoustic rock format to new and undiscovered heights with bursts of experimental arrangements, a vast range of sounds and effects and wild amplified soloing that create dynamics not often heard. He's toured with the likes of The Decemberists and Okkervil River; his second album, Nice, Nice, Very Nice, was nominated for the Polaris Prize (the Canadian equivalent of our Mercury Music Prize); and he's toured across the world playing Glastonbury and, stateside, Sasquatch. For fans of Bon Iver and Sufjan Stevens.

"Canadian acoustic troubadour invents post-folk…a great artistic leap…Mangan serves up the welcome alternative"
