Sparking The Imagination @ Phoenix Square
11th June – 12th June 2011
Phoenix Square, Midland Street, Leicester, LE1 1TG
Phoenix Square in association with the Spark Children's Arts Festival presents 'Sparking the Imagination', a weekend packed full of amazing activities and family friendly films hand picked for the digital generation. Visit the mysterious planet of the Beetlebuns, see some of the best new animations from around the world and discover exciting new ways of experiencing art and technology through a series of fun, interactive artworks that will delight children of all ages!
Activities include:
EXQUISITE CORPSE – Thomas Hall – Screen Room
The classic party game exquisite corpse, invented by surrealist artists in the 1920s, is re-imagined and given a digital makeover in this playful, interactive installation. Dress up as your favourite character or monster and watch as your image is transformed to create a collection of strange and surprising new creatures on the big screen.
ACTIVE MIRROR – Sean Clark – Screen 2
Look into the Active Mirror and see yourself appear on the big screen. The Mirror lets you create a kaleidoscope of crazy shapes and patterns, using your own image or playing with others. Try using the light from your mobile phone screen to add exciting new shapes to the visual mix.
PICTUREWALL – Sean Clark – Screen Lounge
Use the digital sketchpad to create a drawing and 'flick' it on to the Picturewall. Your pictures will become part of a moving collage that will be displayed in the Screen Lounge throughout the weekend. All pictures will also be uploaded to the Internet so you can view them on the Picturewall website when you get home.
