Interact Labs is a digital arts maker space located at the Phoenix Cinema and Arts Centre in Leicester. We run workshops, artist residencies, host regular talks and generally encourage people to be creative with technology.
Our facilities include 3D printers and scanners, Arduino kits, Raspberry Pi computers, drawing machines and an Oculus Rift Virtual Reality System. For this workshop we will be looking at how this wide range of technology can be used to support arts and other creative activity and how to decide which technology is best suited to which task. We will look at how to combine technologies to achieve the best results in your creative work and how to reduce the costs of engagement with new technology by being smart in what you buy.
Live demos will include a 3D printed robot that you can construct yourself for under £20, low-cost hand tracking in Virtual Reality and and overview of how to use the £25 Raspberry Pi computer to help you get involved in programming. No technical experience in necessary, but enthusiasm is mandatory!
This is a closed session for members of the Birmingham Black Hole Club, let us know if you are interested open sessions like this.
