Geoff Broadway: Digital Montage

Geoff Broadway will be discussing how digital montage can be a valuable creative technique for a critical realist practice and will be showing examples of his recent work which explore the political and ideological relationship between our culture and the so-called 'other'- a world we have learned to describe and categorise as under-developed, primitive and exotic in comparison to our 'progressive' western culture.

In relation to this he will argue against the idea that we are entering a 'post-photographic age' and suggest that issues of visual representation and culture are more complex than the prophets of the digital revolution suggest.

Geoff Broadway is currently a associate researcher at the Design Research Centre, University of Derby where he is also a part-time lecturer. He is also one of the founders of the art and technology group Resonance and has co-ordinated various projects such as LiveWire and Feed Your Head and is also one of the organisers of the Head First event.
