Thurs 6 Nov Desperate Optimists - 'Stalking Realness' Sandfield Centre, Sandfield Road, Lenton. 8pm £6 (£4 concs) Stalking Realness centres on our constantly changing and precarious relationship to notions of the 'real', the 'authentic', the 'genuine' in our culture, as opposed to the 'fake', the 'copy', the 'illusionary'. This intense, engaging and intimate performance takes place on a red floor, under the glare of intense white light - so every tiny detail is exposed and scrutinised. Desperate Optimists (an Irish company based in London) continue to work with their hallmark DJ turntables, accompanied by a new arrival - a video monitor. Armed with these technologies, as well as their distinctive style, they give important contemporary issues a hard time. Co-promoted by Contemporary Archives and Nottinghamshire County Council Education Committee for NOW ninety7. [ Index | Previous Event | Next Event ] |
