The Hut on Hermitage Rd is at the heart of the Old Ashby Rd estate and is currently having a facelift!
The 'What's in a Name?' Movable Mural will be the first new piece of art work specially created for the young people's room.
This project inspired many young people from the Old Ashby Rd area, and some of their friends who joined in with great enthusiasm!
They interpreted their names in both imaginative and literal ways, and sketched out their exciting ideas in pencil, ready to transfer onto a 10"x10" board. |
 The fun part came next!
Everyone learnt something, experimenting with collage, paint techniques, fabrics, beads, scrunching tissue paper, beads - and letting their imagination run riot!
Great pride and achievement was evident in their work, and the finished boards were mounted together to form one collective piece.
The young people enjoyed a sense of individuality, teamed with collaborative spirit, and learnt from each other's work.
They seized the opportunity to get involved and created some fantastic art! |
