Home | A Journey into Modern Bangladesh | The Land |
 | The Land | “ Padma, Meghna, Jamuna- Our Identity.” | | Bangladesh is bordered by India on the east, west and north, and by the Bay of Bengal and a small border strip with Maynamar(Burma) on the south. Bangladesh is in the delta of three rivers: the Padma (Ganges), Jamuna(Brahmaputra) and the Meghna. These rivers are an important part of the physical environment of Bangladesh and play a very important role in the life of its people. 85 % of the land is flat. There are few hills in the north and southeast. In the south of the country, there is a huge marshy forest called the Sundarbans, the home of the famous Royal Bengal Tiger. | With its countless squares of verdant cropland, luxurious tropical forest, meandering rivers and abundance of sunshine, Bangladesh creates a land of unforgettable peace and fascinating beauty. Nature’s beauty and bounty have inspired endless variety of folk music of exquisite quality.
Bangladesh has a tropical monsoon climate, characterised by a season of heavy rains. There are basically four seasons in a year – winter (December-February), summer (March-May), Monsoon (June-September) and autumn (October-November).
