The Future

“ Break off, smash the shackle,
Youth of the sunny morn.
March forward, on.”

Bangladesh

Bangladesh, in spite of its substantial manpower with well-trained and skilled engineers, economists, physicians, accountants and other professionals has not moved significantly from poverty towards prosperity. Successive governments appear to have served the country badly even in the context of the associated post liberation war situation. There also exists today a gross lack of consensus on state ideology, definition of nationalism, kind of economy that the country should uphold, and the relationships and treaties with the neighbouring countries.

A nation for a sustainable future needs to possess among other resources objects of pride. Bangladeshi people are proud of their language and liberation war martyrs, the intellectuals who were murdered and their cultural heritage. Bangladeshi people must be the vanguard for their own development. They did it in the past; surely, they have potential to play that role if they can develop the correct political orientation and flexibility in their style of work.
