A STUNNING COLLECTION OF PAINTING
AND COLLAGE WORK FROM THE PUNK
MOVEMENT'S SEMINAL PROTEST ARTIST

Punk roared out of England in the late 70's and within a few years, similar scenes existed around the world. Like the early 60's British invasion, punk was as much about a look as a music. No one was more influential in creating and propagating that look than Gee Vaucher. As the resident artist/designer for the legendary band Crass, her work became identified with both the band and with punk itself, imitated by the movement and ripped off by the mainstream.

Crass Art is the first opportunity to view Vaucher's work from art-school origins and early experiments with EXIT, an art 'happenings' group with strong links to the FLUXUS movement. It covers her years working as an illustrator in the UK and US, the seminal 'protest art' of the '80's with CRASS and other Anarchist groups alongside her more recent work. CRASS Art also contains text detailing the historical context of the piece.
