LLEAP Workshop: Live Breadboarding for Music
Date: Thu, 05 Mar 2015, 13:00 - 19:00
Venue: Leicester Hackspace, Makers' Yard
Each participant will use a single integrated circuit to create sounds, from oscillation and modulation to feedback and noise. Using the 40106 logic chip (Hex Schmitt Trigger) we can build up to 6 oscillators that can be connected in a complex feedback network, providing a wide pallet of analogue electronic sounds.
During the session we will learn about the basic topology of the circuit. Participants will swap out components (resistors and capacitors) to create music. No previous experience with performance or electronics is necessary. This is an investigative practice much like circuit bending and it's a great way to learn about designing your own electronic instruments.
A concert will be held at De Montfort Universities PACE building at 9pm where the workshop participants will perform an improvised piece together as a live breadboarding ensemble.
The event is open to all, but please book to secure a breadboard, as there are a limited number.
