An Evening with the Radio Astronomy Group
Date: Sat, 20 Dec 2014, 19:00 - 21:00
Venue: Leicester Hackspace, Makers' Yard
The availability of low-cost Software Defined Radio (SDR) hardware offers exciting possibilities for radio astronomy applications. Such devices are one or even two orders of magnitude cheaper than the general communications receivers previously used for this application. Whilst the performance of the cheapest of these is undoubtedly inferior to more expensive models, it is still adequate for applications such as meteor scatter and hydrogen line observing.
