Leicester Hackspace Presents: An Evening With REMAP
Date: Sat, 15 Nov 2014, 19:00 - 21:00
Venue: Leicester Hackspace, Makers' Yard
"Remap is a national registered charity which has been supplying one-off technical aids to disabled people for 50 years. It has been estimated that around 100,000 devices have been produced to date. Every aid is designed and produced specifically to the client's needs and is given free of charge. The devices we make can be to help people become more mobile, give them greater independence or enable them to take part in a favourite hobby or pastime."
The Leicestershire and Rutland panel, who will be talking at Leicester Hackspace on the 15th November, produce around 100 devices a year, as well as giving advice on disability aids. They have recently produced attachments for wheelchairs, an award-winning smile-operated e-reader, and a liquid medicine dispenser for a blind man.
They will be talking to us about how they deliver their services, and will be bringing some equipment to demonstrate. Come and join us to learn how technical skills and a little ingenuity can have significant social impact!
Whilst the event is free, we do ask that you book so we have some idea of numbers.
Please contact info@leicesterhackspace.org.uk if you need any further details.
Refreshments will be provided.
This event is supported by a grant from the Network Champions Fund, supported by the ERDF and Leicester City Council.
