Sounds of the Cultural Quarter
Date: Thu, 03 Apr 2014, 15:00 - 19:00
Venue: Phoenix
Forty years ago the Cultural Quarter was a very different place. Humming wight he sound of hosiery machines and the bustle of markets. Then as the factories fails, nightclubs and community centres started up and the sounds of the area changed dramatically.
We are looking for committed volunteers to take part in an exciting arts and research project which looks back at the changing post-industrial landscapes of the area.
Take part in the recording of sounds and re-working of archival materials to create new trails and soundscapes working alongside sounds artist Andrew Hill and academics from the University of Leicester.
To find out more about the project come to one of our open drop-in sessions at Phoenix between 3pm and 7pm on Thursday March 27th and April 3rd.
Part of the Affective Digital Histories Project.
