Institute of Creative Technologies Masters Students: Melanie Moeler & Tove Noorjahaan Dalenius

Throughout August Phoenix is hosting two Digital Artist Residencies, featuring practitioners from the Masters in Creative Technologies programme at the Institute of Creative Technologies, De Montfort University.

Melanie and Tove will be creating interactive artworks during their time at Phoenix. See them at work and get involved in their installations.

Melanie Moeller
Dates: 6-11 August
Times: 1pm - 3pm & 6pm - 9pm

As a Digital Artist in Residence, Melanie will be exploring how programming tools such as Processing and Max/MSP Jitter can be combined to create a visual based, interactive system. In particular Melanie will focus on how such a system can trigger video effects through single and multiple user interaction with the digital setup. Melanie's work investigates notions of human-computer interaction, motion tracking, responsive environments and non-linear film. She will be using a Microsoft Xbox Kinect to track motion.

Movement data will be analysed and translated into visual effects in real time. Amongst others, effects include saturation, volume control and mixing in live video. These can be controlled, by moving around the space, especially through head and hand movement. Melanie's aim is to customise the interface, enabling participants to use the system with their own video content.

Tove Noorjahaan Dalenius - Ubique 隨處 Överallt
Dates: 20-25 August
Times: 1pm - 3pm & 6pm - 9pm

During her During her residency at Phoenix, Tove Dalenius wil create an interactive system exploring ethical issues with electronics production, waste and the envionment.
