The Institute for Boundary Interactions / Phoenix Residency 2
Date: Tue, 14 Feb 2012 - Tue, 21 Feb 2012
Venue: Phoenix
Over the next few months, a range of artists will be living, working andcreating brand new artworks at Phoenix Square, taking inspiration from this unique cultural building and its surroundings...
The Institute for Boundary Interactions [IBI] will be in residence undertaking a series of weather experiments in an attempt to transform the local climate.
Using the latest techniques, attempts will be made to create clouds, release rain and induce lightning using hacked and home-built weather machines. From these initial experiments, IBI aims to create a coordinated DIY meteorological modification community, capable of altering larger weather systems. They will produce an open online resource detailing schematics, code and datasets, allowing other individuals to build simple weather modification devices.
Artefacts, scale models, remnants and documentation from these experiments will be collected to form an exhibition that acts as the launch for the weather modification network.
The Institute for Boundary Interactions is an interdisciplinary research collective that uses science, technology, art and design to explore the complex connections between people, places and things.
Made possible with the kind support of Blueprint and LCB Depot. Phoenix Residencies are supported by the National Lottery through Arts Council England.
