ARTISTIC COLLECTIVE CONCIOUSNESS.
The Arts Society of the University of Derby was formed in 1994 by Martin Jopson and Paul Cox.
Now in its second year, the Arts Society maintains a prominent position within the Universities Art and Design department.
The aim of the Arts Society, primarily, is to integrate the areas of artistic practice within the University. It provides an arena where like-minded people can share ideas and collaborate on artistic practice. The Arts Society is a place where tighter bonds between creative students can be formed and thus developed for the future. The executive commitee believe that such an organisation is of great importance to a faculty such as Art and Design, because without it students can often be left secluded within their own practice without being given the chance to examine the ideas of other students.
As 'art' is such a grey area, influence can be sought everywhere.
This home page was set up for two reasons.
i) to enable the University of Derby students to broadcast their work to other students.
ii) to encourage other universities around England to become involved in an Artistic Collective Conciousness.
If there is anyone who belongs to a similar organisation, anywhere outside of the University of Derby, then please get in touch with us and we can attempt to create a huge artistic organisation throughout the country.
