Throughout history people have been 'displaced' from their homes and homelands. Within this series of work a visual time line is created exploring just this plight.Designed to be read on several levels these images allow us to catch glimpses of a past that continually repeats itself, and as our eyes adjust to the shifting layers we can delve deeper within and discover the underlying forms. Each layered image displaces the last, yet within one framework they become united.
Underlying this framework a discrete displacement is also underway. This is the displacement of more traditional art materials by technology. Scanned images of actual paintings are merged into the many levels of the completed works forming just part of this computerised process. A process in which physical materials are ousted by contemporary equivalents.
