MUSLIM + HINDU TENSIONS |
I'm Hindu, and although I haven't been out with any Muslims boys, there are a few that I quite like, and this causes problems.
The main reasons for the tensions between Muslims and Hindus are to do with history, but it causes a lot of stress for teenagers and just adds to our problems.
Like it does for me 'cos I've got family, and then I've got school and my grades and everything and I've got to keep up with my school work.
People have found out that I like Muslim boys, and, like, they give me stuff everyday, saying like "We know that you go out with them" and stuff, and it's hard sometimes.
But I don't really let on that's it's upsetting me at school, I'm really good at - I'm the kind of girl that, whenever you're upset I never know 'cos you seem to cover it so well, I'm like yeah, I've got used to having it so I can brush it off quite easily. But then sometimes when I'm at home then it'll kick in a bit.
Part of it is things that happen at school with friends, but most of it is just history and what parents have taught them. So they just don't get on otherwise.
It's quite hard for one boy because he's close friends with both the Muslims and Hindus, so when they start fighting it causes him a lot of problems cos he doesn't know what to do.
And it upsets him.
An Asian boy was expelled, and even today, one of my friends goes to me - "You know we're not ever, EVER gonna get along with them so why do you like to hang out with them?"
I've liked some Muslim guys - not local, but he said it straight out.
It is partially a racial thing. |
