HAPPY MEMORIES, SMALL REGRETS AND WORDS OF ADVICE

One of the things I can’t wait to get when I’m fourteen is my Mum’s fountain pen. You see, me and my Mum were big fans of fountain pens and she had this really really nice fountain pen. It’s got kind of like gold ivy on the lid and you can open it.

My Mum could write really fast and it would be all perfect and neat, and that’s what I want to do. I’m very forgetful, so dad’s not trusting me yet with it. He will trust me when I’m about fourteen.

The thing I miss is the time I spent with my Mum, and the thing I find really terrible about myself is that all last year I spent more time watching TV than I did with her and I could’ve spent more time with my Mum.

Memories, fun memories of when my Mum was alive, makes me remember her in such a way that makes me so happy.

To other kids in my position whose mum or dad is very ill or passed away, I would say: Hope for the best and whatever happens, be proud of their mum and to always remember her and to never blame God for it, (if they believe in God).

Another piece of advice is, in order to deal with all the shock, try and stay happy and remember all the good times and try not to cry a lot. That’s the advice I’d give to other kids if their mum was badly ill. Oh and also to spend as much time with them, as much time with their mum as they could, you know, not just every time when they come home from school, go to the TV room and watch TV. Come home from school instead of a TV programme, go to where their mum is and talk to her. Spend as much time with their mum, and then if their mum does pass away they’ll have so many good memories and they’ll have spent a lot of time with her.
