DADS |
Since Mum walked out, Dad has had to learn to cook for us.
He's not bad - he sometimes burns stuff. At first he’s only learned how to make curries, but last year the only thing he knew how to make was beans on toast. The rest he didn’t have a clue.
We can excuse him for burning things a little bit, but sometimes we can’t, especially if we're starving!
I usually help him, cos I’m a good cook and I’m always showing him what to do, and it comes out OK. It sometimes does get burnt, but I don’t mind the cooker. Dad does.
But he’s also a dangerous cook, and sometimes he's a hazard in the kitchen!
I’ve had training in that at school and one time he had left a knife in the sink and he just chucked it in, and it wasn’t in properly and the knife was still pointing out by accident. If anyone had moved straight forward it would have gone in them. And I said “dad, you didn’t put the knife in properly”. When you’re dealing with knives and fragile crockery, you always put it in gently, cos it could always go wrong. That’s what the teacher said. |
