Toystreet

'Toy Street' is a project that was designed to create an outdoor play space for younger children on the estate from designs made through workshops with Charnwood Arts artist Paul Gent.

The designs included roads and buildings mixed with design ideas from the children. The design was then transferred to the tarmac through a special spray paint that the local residents association had bought for the purpose. A number of teenagers on the estate got involved in the painting and really enjoyed working with Paul.

Paul has travelled a lot in the last few years working in Kosova, Palestine, Nicaragua, India, Czech Republic, Slovakia, Croatia, Spain, Morocco, Montenegro, Serbia, Lebanon, Syria, Romania and Bosnia.

Travelling light Paul just 'turns up' and gets on with his work, often with very little money and nowhere to stay.
