Whats in a Name? |
Everyone looked up the meaning of their name and began to think through ideas - looking at the work of other artists - most people wanted to do something imaginative and symbolic rather than literal.
They sketched out their ideas in pencil, ready to transfer onto a 10"x10" board. The fun part came next! |
 Experimenting with paint, choosing fabrics, beads, scrunching tissue paper, beads - and letting their imagination run riot!
Everyone learnt different things and took great pride in their work enjoying the opportu ity to play with art in the way the artists themselves do when they are exploring an idea. This was a new way of thinking about art to some of the participants.
The finished boards were mounted together to form one collective piece.This gave the group a sense of individual excellence as well as a collective outcome in which they could enjoy enjoy each other's work.
They group took to the idea of thinking like visual artists and enjoyed the opportunity to produce some great results for themselves.
The finished work will be hung in Shelthorpe Young People's Centre. |
