 In the summers of 2001 and 2002 Charnwood Arts was granted funding to develop Charnwood Youth Arts Network (CYAN). The aim of the CYAN project was for Charnwood Arts to work with young people between the ages of 11 and 15 years old, and allow them the opportunity to engage with artists in an informal and familiar environment.
These photographs that were taken at local venues within the Shelthorpe and Warwick Way areas of Loughborough, show how the young people worked with circus skills artists to learn and develop new and existing skills in the art of circus performance.
The workshops held within the young peoples residential areas allowed Charnwood Arts to gain an understanding of the needs of the young people and the issues that they were facing in their home environments. Charnwood Arts was then able to respond to them throughout the summer and has continued to engage and support many of the young people through further development of the CYAN project. |
